Born in 1961 in the Westcountry of England, Adam Gill started to compose music from the age of 14 mostly through improvisation and experimentation at the piano and then scribbleing down the ideas and concepts that sounded interesting on manuscript paper.
Coming from quite a rich musical environment, concepts and ideas were always around in the background and which were templates and foundations to put improvisation and structure together.
The artist has also studied theory of music, classical flute, and piano which has given him a sound grounding in the formation of chord structures and chord progressions and well as free flowing melodies over the base sructure. His composition skills are largely self taught combining his improvisations with traditioinal harmony.
Current musical influences include contemporary classical, jazz, latin, ethnic, new age, and improvisation. When listening to the artist's music, one can't help feeling he is up to some extent trying to escape from traditional constraints of music theory, and this combined with 18 years inĀ Hong Kong & Asia certainly makes his music an interesting cultural mix of themes and ideas.
The 40 or so compositons you see on this web site are only a very small example of what the artist has composed. There are pages of ideas & concepts just waiting to be manifested into something more concrete!
With the advent of higher bandwidth over the internet, more of the artist's compositons are being upgraded with video, and completley new compositions composed around this medium.
